Frequently Asked Questions

What is Overtures?

London's original showtune singalong piano bar! Gather around the piano, have a few drinks, and sing your heart out to all the hits from stage and screen in harmony with like-minded musical lovers.

Where are you located?

In the heart of London's West End! Our events are hosted by two main venues, with occasional pop-ups at other locations.

Fridays and Saturdays: Upstairs at Louche, 5 Greek Street, London, W1D 4DD.

Nearest tube: Tottenham Court Road (Central, Northern, Elizabeth) - 3-minute walk

Please be aware that the venue is 18+, requires photo ID, and may check bags at the door. Access to the venue is via stairs, and access to the toilets is via an additional staircase. Each staircase has 18-19 steps and a handrail on the right side.

Mondays (and some Sundays!): Upstairs at the Prince of Wales, 150-151 Drury Lane, London WC2B 5TD.

Nearest tube: Covent Garden (Piccadilly) - 3-minute walk

Please be aware that access to the venue is via stairs.

When are you open?

Our regular singalongs are Friday and Saturday from 8:00pm to 2:00am.

On Mondays, we run Overtures Ensemble - our casual, boozy showtune choir - from 7:00-9:00pm, followed by live piano karaoke from 9:00-11:00pm. The pub is open all day, so feel free to arrive early for dinner or drinks!

On some Sundays, we run Sunday in the Pub with Overtures - a showtune singalong and pub roast - from 12:30-4:00pm.

We do occasionally close or change our hours to accommodate other events hosted by the venues, and we also sometimes host pop-up events! We recommend joining our mailing list for announcements, checking our social media, or keeping an eye on our calendar

Do I need to book in advance?

Only for Ensemble, Sunday in the Pub with Overtures, or other ticketed events. Our regular Friday and Saturday singalongs and Monday karaoke are non-ticketed - you can just turn up!

For group bookings or special events, you are welcome to book a space if you'd like to by contacting us at info@overtures.london. Please note that due to our agreement with Louche Soho, we are unable to take bookings more than 4 weeks in advance.

Please be aware that we operate a door charge for non-members on Friday and Saturday nights:

8:00-10:00pm: Free entry

10:00pm-12:00am: £5 per person

12:00-2:00am: £10 per person

On Mondays, there is a £5 drop-in fee to attend Ensemble from 7:00-9:00pm. Entry is free for karaoke from 9:00-11:00pm.

You can become a member for £10 per month/ £100 per year for free entry to all regular singalongs - or for £15 per month/ £150 per year to include Ensemble.

Can I bring my suitcase or musical instrument?

We have a limited amount of storage space, so try to leave large items at home. But if you’re traveling with a suitcase or coming straight from a gig with your instrument, we can hold it in the office for you while you sing the night away!

Do the pianists take requests?

Our pianists and hosts welcome song requests from the world of showtunes: West End to Broadway, classical to contemporary, movie musicals, jukebox musicals. We do our best to play every request, but it may not always be possible to fit them all in!

Can we tip the performers?

Absolutely! If you would like to show your appreciation to our talented pianists and hosts, there is a tip jar available on the piano, as well as a scannable QR code on the tables which supports Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. You can also tip your favourite performer via our website. All tips go directly to the performers and are greatly appreciated.

How do I know who’s performing?

We post our performer schedule on our social media each week. There are three scheduled performers each night: The early pianist plays from 8pm-11pm, the late pianist plays from 11pm-2am, and the host leads the singalong from 8pm-midnight. On Mondays, we have one pianist and host for Ensemble and karaoke.

Please note that the rota is subject to change based on performer availability. We’ll always do our best to post any changes on social media.

How does everyone know all the words?!

Shhh— don’t tell anyone, but most of us use our phones to find lyrics to the songs we don’t know! Have a sneaky Google, and once you've come along a few times, you may be surprised by how many new songs you've learned.

Can I sing a solo?

At Overtures, the vibe is more “spontaneous group singalong” than “karaoke night”. We’re all about the ensemble, and we like to keep things low-pressure! If you see someone singing into the microphone, they’re one of our pianists, hosts, or guest performers who are there to support the crowd.

Join us for Musical Mondays, our live piano karaoke, for your moment in the spotlight!

I want to go up and sing around the piano, but I’m nervous!

Everyone at Overtures is there because they love singing showtunes— whether their last gig was on the stage or in the shower. It’s a friendly, safe environment where everyone is free to be themselves. Our regulars were all strangers until they met and became friends around that piano. So come join us, and you might just meet your new best pals!

Can I book Overtures performers for a private event?

Our team of pianists and singers would love to perform your favourite musical theatre, pop, jazz, or classical tunes at your wedding, party, or event. We are happy to travel to your venue, or we can help to arrange a private or semi-private hire of our hosting venues. We can also help to source additional musicians or bands for your event. Email info@overtures.london or submit this form so we can discuss your needs.

I’m interested in working at Overtures.

That’s fantastic! We are a very small team and rarely in a position to bring on new performers, but if you’re happy for us to keep your details on file for the future, please fill out this form

For bar applications, you are welcome to send your CV directly to Louche at info@louchesoho.com or to the Prince of Wales via their recruitment website. (Please be aware that the Overtures team has no involvement in either venues' operations or hiring.)
